Do goldfish lay eggs?ĭo goldfish lay eggs? Yes, they do! And female goldfish don’t just lay one or two goldfish eggs at a time… It’s one of our favorite goldfish facts that a female goldfish can lay several thousand goldfish eggs in one spawning! Do goldfish like dark or light? The longest-lived goldfish, Tish, lived to 42 years old in a regular fishbowl. Goldfish don’t actually need filtration and can live long lives, as you may have seen, without filtration. The belief that goldfish need a filter is incorrect. Just like humans, goldfish have circulatory systems that help carry oxygen throughout the body. That’s because a goldfish’s internal organs rely on oxygen to function properly. Though it’s commonly known that goldfish need water to survive, they’re also dependent on fresh air. They are documented to be one of the friendliest species of fish out there! They rarely show signs of being territorial. In fact, many goldfish can live long, healthy, happy lives all on their own. To answer the question: Yes, goldfish can live alone. That’s not the case for fish, which can regenerate their optic nerve in as little as 12 days and regain their eyesight 80 days after an injury. The nerve can’t be healed, and vision loss can’t be restored. However, bigger goldfish have the capability of eating the smaller guppy fish. The answer is YES, guppies and Goldfish can coexist together. It’s likely that when you spot a single goldfish that seems lethargic or depressed, it is far more likely that there is a problem with its environment or health than it is that the goldfish is lonely. While we can never know for sure, there is no indication that goldfish get lonely. While goldfish can survive colder temperatures than this, it isn’t comfortable for them, and a sudden drop in temperature can prove fatal. This means, in most climates, they won’t need a heater in their tank. The temperature in your telescope eye’s tank should be kept between about 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The aquarium fish will heal right up without medication. If it’s as I suspect, that’s all you need to do. If it’s below 6.8, and especially if it’s below 6.4, change more water more often. How fast this happens depends on the water chemistry of your local tap water, but with big fish, it tends to happen quickly. Over time, these acids cause the pH to drop. In a tank with a high bioload, biofiltration can produce a lot of acid. One of the by-products of biofiltration in a tank is the production of acids. Often, the pH was so low it tested off the chart. When they complained of aquarium fish with cloudy eyes, almost without exception I found the pH in their fish aquariums to be extremely low. In my years as an aquarium dealer, I ran many water tests for customers. The most common cause of cloudy eyes in aquarium fish seems to be poor water quality, especially when the pH level in the aquarium water drops too low. Dietary deficiencies, such as lack of vitamin A, may contribute to poor fish eye health. Treatment with a good antibiotic should cure these infections. Bacteria can infect fish eyes damaged by injury. I’m not aware of any treatments for those problems. Another is the onset of cataracts in fish. Internal parasites, such as protozoa or flukes, are one cause. Several things can cause cloudy eyes in aquarium fish.
